The Starbucks Coffee House in the Disney Village has opened!

Starbucks is celebrating 5 years in France and with a new concept in coffee houses, The Disney Village Starbucks is the first to be built under a new design strategy to help the enviroment. It was built using local materials and uses energy saving features.
The opening times for the coffee house are as follows:
Sunday to Thursday 8.00AM to 24.00PM
Friday and Saturday : 8.00AM to 1.00AM
With thanks to photomagiques.com we can show you some recent interior images:

Please tell us what you think about the VIP fastpass system by leaving us a comment at the bottom of the article.
It has been reported that Disneyland Paris is to trial a new Fastpass service, more importantly a paid service.
The test is expected to run from 19th June to the 2nd August 2009 and you can buy the VIP fastpass, for the first time ever, from the receptions at either the Disneyland Hotel or the Disney’s Hotel New York.
From the 19th June the price will be €100 per person for one day and from the beginning of July the price will decrease to €80 per person per day, which does suggest that Disney are testing out the price.
The VIP fastpass is the same as the ones you get if you stay at the Castle Club, Empire State Club or the Hotel Suites but anyone can now buy the VIP privilege.
Basically what you pay for is the privilege of instantly entering the Fastpass queue at the attractions that use the Fastpass system all day so instead of waiting around for your time slot and then having to wait again to get another time slot you can immediantly make use of the system for example you arrive at the park, purchase your VIP fastpass, head over to Space Mountain go into the fastpass line then straight afterwards you can queue in the fastpass for, say, Big Thunder Mountain.
Edit: With thanks to Kristof from photosmagiques.com – this is the current design of the VIP Fastpass ticket:

please note that this hasn’t been officially confirmed by Disney therefore it is still a rumour until further notice, please send us a comment if you visit the resort and can confirm that Disney are selling VIP fastpass tickets, thank you.

Disneyland Paris and Orange [Mobile] have been partners since the parks opening in 1992 and now one branch of Orange (Orange Business Services) has teamed up with Disneyland to introduce Flashcode technology into the parks.
Flashcode is a smart 2D barcode that mobile users can take a photo of the flashcode simply using their Camera on a mobile phone which then allows the users to connect to a mobile website with relevant information. Not all mobile phones are compatible with Flashcode.

Example of flashcode (from Disney/Orange)
The uses are quite endless! a flashcode can be put onto signs, leaflets, menus and even screens. This allows someone to scan the code to find show times, special offers for restaurants and further information relevant to, for example, the sign.
Orange Business Services provided the advice, support and technical set-up that the Flashcode required.
The draw backs of the service are obvious, not everyone will have a compatible mobile phone and connecting to the internet can be expensive if you don’t have a package.
What is a little bit interesting last year Disney began trials using a bluetooth service in the Walt Disney Studios (paris) and set up hotspots around the park for example around the information board where Disney would automatically connect if your bluetooth was on and send promotional videos, show times etc all for no extra costs to the park guests.
It will be interesting to see how Disney uses flashcode technology.
If you see a flashcode around the resort take a photo or scan the leaflet etc and we would appreciate it if you send it to admin@dlrpblog.com with ‘flashcode’ in the subject box

Only yesterday we reported that the Exterior of the new Starbucks Coffee shop in the Disney Village was almost complete, well today we have discovered new images of the exterior and the interior!

Exterior

Signage now complete!

Interior
The interior does look very standard for Starbucks although it still looks good, and it looks like it won’t be long until the opening!
The question is will Annual Passport holders get a discount?….

You can now follow the progress of the Toy Story Playland project on DLRPblog, quite simply!
To find the latest posts about the project you can either go onto the homepage (www.dlrpblog.com) and click on the image that says ‘Follow the Progress’ (it has a Toy Story logo behind the text) or use this link:
http://dlrpblog.com/category/walt%20disney%20studios/toy%20story%20playland/
Please remember that the project is still a rumour as it has not been confirmed by Disney.
So far not much seems to be happening on the Construction Site (which is located at the bottom of Toon Studios)
However the blue fence is still surrounding the site and has nothing to indicate what is happening on the other side – not even the Mickeys Magical Party banners.
The following images were taken last weekend by Kristof from wdsfans.com
as you can see a dirt pile has been created, most likely from foundations for the structures and the machinery definently indicates that something is happening!
If you don’t actually know anything about the project heres what is happening:
It is believed that 3 attractions are being built, all with a Toy Story Theme. The new land is part of the ‘Toon Studios’ expansion. The three attractions will be:
Army Men Parachute Drop – this will be similar to this attraction but with different theming:

RC Racer – similar to the below image but expected to have a ‘hot wheels track’ theme:

We will keep you updated!
Many people are anticipating the opening of Starbucks in the Disney Vilage and recently a lot of work has been happening to convert the former retail shop into the coffee shop.
Its best to show you rather than to explain!

Exterior of Starbucks (copyright dlrptimes.com)
The above photo shows the front of the store with what appears to be a large wicker basket to the right and a wooden box to the left with a simple green wall inbetween. The signage looks as if it is free standing on a metal beam. What will be interesting to know is if the letters are 3D and if they light up at night.
However the side of the building does have a small surprise:

Side of Starbucks (copyright DLRPtimes.org)
The above photo is a view as you are walking through the Disney Village from the Resort Hub. That may be the first thing you see of the shop and you are greeted with the wicker basket wall and what appears to be a metal motif. Interesting! would you instantly say “oh theres a Starbucks here” or would you have to wait until you saw the front?
Lets take a closer look:

So yes it is a mermaid in fact it is the ‘mermaid’ that ‘appeared’ in the old Starbucks logo.
The current logo doesn’t appear anywhere on the exterior (yet) which looks like this:

The rumoured opening date is the 20th June 2009 and we will bring you the latest information.
